What physical security does the Oeck infrastructure use?
We put a lot of time and effort into securing our network. Our VPN servers are all owned by us. We do not use vps or dedicated servers. Every single one of these servers are locked in a server rack, with limited authorised access. They do not have any hard drives and no USB or other ports are made available.
If a server disconnects from power - for any reason, the servers operating system and anything else on the server is instantly destroyed. We also do not keep any user logs, so this is an extra measure we have taken for our network and our customers.
What data does Oeck log?
Why is an e-mail address required to create an account?
In order to make the user experience the best we possibly can, we need to be able to get in touch with you. The purpose of providing an e-mail is as follows;
Notification of ticket reply by Oeck staff
Notice of subscription expiry
Updates of our policies
Specials & Offers ( Which you can unsubscribe )
Under which jurisdiction is Oeck incorporated?
For the safety of our customers, Oeck is incorporated in Hong Kong ( currently ).
Oeck does not have any servers located in Hong Kong whatsoever.
Hong Kong has good privacy laws at the moment. However, we have no doubt that China will keep chipping away at the rights of Hong Kong citizens, so we expect a "data retention" law to be passed as soon as they can. However, it won't mean businesses need to comply on that same day. It is a very large task so we would expect 12 month period for businesses to comply with the new laws if/when they pass.
Having said that, we like to stay ahead so we are getting everything ready to relocate to Singapore. They have good privacy laws and we believe it will be a suitable country for Oeck. It is not a quick process, but this is what will be best for our users and for us.
Which payment providers does Oeck use to process payments?
Oeck uses Stripe, Coinbase and 2Checkout to process all of our payments. No credit card information is stored on our servers.
